for visitors – whatever interest or tastes you may have from
walking, cycling, riding, golf or kayaking to wine-tasting or
sightseeing.

Visit the Gorges d’Ardeche,
Grottes Trabuc and the many natural wonders in the area. Visit
the Carmague with its white horses, black bulls and flamingoes,
and last, but by no means least, enjoy the nearby historic town
of Uzes, with its chic shops, shady streets, good restaurants,
fantastic Saturday market and friendly people.
Uzes
- the oldest and premier Duchy in France, is a medieval hill town
situated 6kms from the house, 30km from Avignon and 20km from Nimes.
Ideally situated in beautiful countryside, its narrow, shaded
streets, lead into the Place aux Herbs, the hub of the town, where
people sit and relax in the cafes and restaurants which abound, and
where, on S aturday mornings, the most superb market draws people
from far and wide. The scents and aromas of Provence make a visit an
unforgettable experience. Fresh cheeses from the Marseille, melons
from nearby Cavaillon, local apricots, cherries etc are all on sale.
Not to mention the olives and the herbs. The shops are a pleasure
and stock many delicacies, wines and crafts of the area.
Wander down
little back streets to discover the hidden treasures there. Discover
the antique shops, the Medieval Garden, the Cathedral, the Castle
and the 12th Century Fenestrelle Tower. Enjoy the musical evenings
in July, the garlic fair, the wine fair and the activities that this
lively sophisticated little town has to offer. I can assure you that
it does not lack atmosphere. These friendly people make sure that
their visitors enjoy and appreciate their area.
Roman Sites
There are many historic Roman
sites in the area, Pont du Gard, Palais des Papes, Pont
d’Avignon, Nimes, Arles and Les Baux de Provence.

Countryside
Visit the Gorges d’Ardeche, Grottes Trabuc, Le Bambouserie. Walk and
admire the beautiful countryside of the Garrigue and Cevennes. In
spring the Garrigue comes alive with wild flowers, miniature
narcissi, iris, euphorbia and thyme. Visit the Camargue with its
salt flats, white horses, black bulls and flamingoes. Visit the
Luberon and the lavender fields.
